When the New Year is close we Greeks wish our friends and neighbours "Chronia polla!" or, literally, "Many years". You may be more familiar with "Many happy returns."
I chose to symbolize the new year with this embroidery of a child and new moon signifying youthfulness and new hope. The Greek inscription, “hronia polla” is the traditional greeting given to others at the start of a new year.
I would like to wish years of blessings from Greece to the world!
I started working on children’s themes in 1998. A year later, I began a series of embroidered cards on Greek themes, including the ancient Greek ideals and landmarks in Greek history.
You will be able to find these elsewhere on my Web site.
